HOMEROOM...What is it?

I am glad to have a homeroom again here at Redwood Middle School.

  • Homeroom meets four days a week (Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri - 8:15am to 8:37am) for 22 minutes at the beginning of the day. VIDEO ANNOUNCEMENTS WILL BE WATCHED IN ROOM 28.
  • This year, my homeroom students are exclusively those within the 7th Grade Blue Team.
  • The focus of this time includes building connections between (GOALS):
  • one's self
  • teachers and students
  • students and students
  • the community

Weekly Schedule

 

Mondays - Board Games & Card Games

Tuesdays - Activity Day (see 'Tuesdays & Minimum Select Days' listed below)

Wednesdays - NO HOMEROOM

Thursdays - Study / Homework Catch-up / Silent Reading (bring homework, projects, book, and extra-curricular work)

Fridays - Journals / Project Wisdom (3 R's)

*There can & will be variations and interruptions to this schedule due to assemblies, student council elections & updates, school-wide fundraisers, and other events.

Project Wisdom and Three R's Curriculum

 

Students will be participating in Project Wisdom (3 R's: Respect, Responsibility, Redwood), a school-wide, research-based character education program operated via morning announcements from Student Council and the Leadership classes.

Project Wisdom (3 R's) themes include respect, honesty & integrity, responsible citizenship, role models, stumbling blocks, stepping stones, and wisdom. Themes are explored via discussions, writing prompts, and class & school-wide activities.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT: Is a monthly recognize of those students that go above & beyond the 3 R's and what an ideal Redwood Student should be, and is justly recognized by a teacher and/or administration. A drawing takes place eack week via the morning announcements for various rewards.

Conduct Grade

 

Students earn a conduct grade for homeroom. This grade reflects the student's amount and type of participation in the class activities, as well as listening, awareness, leadership, and preparedness.

OUTSTANDING (O)

  • always listens and follows directions
  • always prepared, on time, and on task
  • participates in class positively all the time
  • always thoughtful of and helpful to others
  • always accepts responsibility and/or shows leadership

GOOD (G)

  • almost always listens and follows directions
  • almost always prepared, on time, and on task
  • participates in class positively most of the time
  • is thoughtful of and helpful to others most of the time
  • accepts responsibility and or shows leadership most of the time

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT (S)

  • occasionally listens and follows directions
  • occasionally prepared, on time, and on task
  • participates sometimes or only when reminded
  • occasionally thoughtful and helpful only when reminded
  • occasionally accepts responsibility when reminded and does not show leadership

UNSATISFACTORY (N / U)
